Live from the red carpet...two days late.

So, as stated in my first unofficial post (i think this still counts as unofficial, i haven't decided yet) the NHL Awards were that night. They didn't excite me, they never really do (except when Lindy was nominated for the Jack Adams, also, when Lindy won the Jack Adams). And Las Vegas? I feel like its a prelude to the mess of attempting to put a team there.

Was Hamilton not enough? Thank god that sank like the Titanic.

Anywho, I decided to look at the results, to see if a blog could come from that.

In case you missed them (like me)

Hart Trophy (Most Valuable Player) – Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
Pearson Award (Most Outstanding Player; selected by the players) – Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
Norris Trophy (Top Defenseman) – Zdeno Chara, Boston Bruins
Vezina Trophy (Top Goaltender) – Tim Thomas, Boston Bruins
Calder Trophy (Top Rookie) – Steve Mason, Columbus Blue Jackets
Selke Trophy (Top Defensive Forward) – Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings
Lady Byng Trophy (Most Gentlemanly Player) – Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings
Jack Adams Award (Coach of the Year) — Claude Julien, Boston Bruins
Masterton Trophy (Dedication and Perseverance) – Steve Sullivan, Nashville Predators
Clancy Trophy (Humanitarian Contributions) – Ethan Moreau, Edmonton Oilers
Lifetime Achievement Award – Jean Beliveau, Montreal Canadiens
Art Ross Trophy (Leading Scorer) – Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins
Rocket Richard Trophy (Most Goals) – Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
Jennings Trophy (Fewest Goals Allowed) – Tim Thomas, Manny Fernandez, Boston Bruins
N.H.L. Foundation Award (Charitable Contributions) — Rick Nash, Columbus Blue Jackets
NHL Fan Fav Award – Roberto Luongo, Vancouver Canucks
Messier Award (Leadership) – Jarome Iginla, Calgary Flames

And one thing I could not help but notice is that the NHL's poster bitch boy didn't win a THING (future reference, I would sooner remove my own wisdom teeth with broken glass before showing any appreciation for THAT penguin). I'm not sure if he was even nominated, but I would assume if he did someone would kiss enough ass for him to win (I honestly wouldn't be that shocked if he won without even being nominated).

So, that made me smile while I sit here at work. Sidney Crosby may have " won" (cough) the Cup, but Ovechkin won MVP and was even selected to be the best player by OTHER players. As you can see, he also won the Rocket Richard Trophy, but it'd kind of like when Jack Nicholson goes to the Oscars...he already knows he's going to win.

Other than that, overall pleased with the outcome. I was a little shocked when i saw that Roberto won the Fan Favorite. Not that I have anything against him, and I know a lot of people adore him, but I just thought someone else (possibly less deserving? Actually, this is where I would have pictured Crosbys name) would have taken over.

Anyways, that's all I got for now. I'll be working on some filler stuff, maybe. Also, the Sabres draft party is this coming Friday (as is, the draft) and ours is taking place at an art gallery in Buffalo. Why, you ask? Because dinosaurs are more important, and will be invading the arena at the same time. Even after being extinct for 65 million years, they still win...

A little intro, if you please.

This seems a little necessary for all posts, does it not?

If you read that little box to your right ---->
you'll get the basic information about me.

And since this is a hockey blog (and there is currently nothing hockey related going on at the moment...except the NHL awards, but meh) I feel it necessary to get a little hockey information out of the way.

I live in Buffalo, which means I like the Sabres. However, I was born in Montreal, which probably means I should like the Canadiens...but I don't. Other teams I like, following the Sabres, are the Flyers and the Senators...

STOP!

You probably want to click the back button, and perhaps vomit. I highly vote against both. I'm sorry, I cannot help it. I lived in Ottawa for a year, it kind of grew on me. And the Flyers were for reasons that will become very obvious very soon.

i promise to be posting more....when more is going on. this is short and sweet, however, some things should be saved for later.
